Are YOU up to the Challenge?

This year, the Puesta del Sol PTA is sponsoring the Academic Challenge. Students who complete at least 4 of the 6 academic challenges will receive a Trophy from Principal Nestor during a school-wide assembly in June. To earn an Academic Challenge trophy do 4 of the 6 challenges below:
  1. Reflections Project
  2. Science Fair Project
  3. Passport Club (Level 5+)
  4. Five Book Reviews
  5. Eight Hours of Math
  6. Five Hours of Keyboarding

Book Reviews, the Math Log and Keyboarding Log may be emailed to me, given to your teacher, or brought to the office.

  1. Complete a Reflections project.  Projects can be literature, musical composition, photography or visual arts.  Due November 16, 2011
  2. Complete a Science Fair project.  You will use the scientific process to explore a topic of your choice and create a display to be shared.  Due March 21, 2012
  3. Complete Levels 1 through 5 (each month) of Passport Club and 10 Special Itinerary projects.  Note:  any missed levels or special itineraries from previous months can be made up on any check day or using a "Check at home" form available here.  All Passport work is due May 29, 2012.
  4. Read 5 books at your reading level and complete a Book Review for each. Please use the appropriate form for your grade  Due April 24, 2012
    1. Kindergarten/First 
    2. Second/Third

  5. Complete 8 hours of Math Activities using Math Whizz, Dreambox or other math program of your choice; regularly assigned homework does not count toward hours for this challenge.  Some of the programs below have a fee involved and are SUGGESTIONS ONLY.  Time sheets are available here and are due April 24, 2012
